Known as the Colosseum, it is the biggest and most important amphitheater of the ancient world and it could accommodate up to 50.000 people. Your guide will tell you all about the events that took place there, such as “venationes” (games involving exotic animals), “noxii” (the executions of the condemned performed by wild animals), and “munera” (gladiator fights).
Then, you will move to the Roman Forum, the commercial, religious and political center of Ancient Rome and there you will see the whole archaeological area. You will see where the body of Julius Caesar was cremated, the Arch of Titus and Constantine, the Temple of the Vestal Virgins, the Senate, and the Ancient Market. You will walk along the Via Sacra, where the parades of Triumph took place. Your tour guide will delight you with vivid descriptions of the architecture, superstitions, myths, and legends of the roman, bringing history alive.
Finally, you will move to Palatine hill, the core of the Seven Hills and one of the most ancient parts of the city, where, according to the legend Romulus founded Rome in 753 a.C. after killing his brother Remus. It later became the settlement of the most important residences of emperors. There you will see the remains of the hut of Romulus, the house of Augustus, the private hippodrome of Domitian, and much more.
